" An evocative piece of work masterfully executed.
Representing a human environment, although there is no human figure to be seen in this three dimensional work, its impact and appeal come from that very human element which is absent. From a purely artistic and esthetic point of view, it captures and holds the viewer's interest through use and dynamic arrangement of a rich variety of interesting forms and shapes. With infinitive variations in shape, size, volume and direction, the artist has made highly creative and expressive use of limited material.
Other ten its aesthetic qualities, the work reminds us of places imbued with human warmth and , at least mentally, takes us away from the cold jungles of steels glass, plastic and concrete that we live in today."

Honourable Mention given to artist Marta Alvarez at Winter Art Showat the Papermill Gallery, Todmorden Mills.

Title: Purple Dream
Artist: Marta Alvarez
" A competely executed painting that has a soothing comforting effect.
Created with a spontaneous freshness of touch, the painterly charater of this works results from a total absence of line. A technique that imparts to this painting the softness and dreamlike quality befitting the subject matter, as implied in its title. Shapes are defined only through variations in values and/or the placement of warm and cool colours in adjoining areas. Large areas of analogous colours ranging from cool purples to warm violets area balanced with complementary accents of warm and cool yellows interpersed among them. Subtle grey purples and grey pinks, and seamless transitions throughout."
